Dental tools icon - Wisdom Teeth RemovalWisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that most people get in their late teens or early twenties. Due to the pain and many problems associated with wisdom teeth, extraction is often advised.

Dr. Roy will examine your case and provide his best recommendation; Options for anesthesia will be offered if necessary.

The procedure usually takes less than an hour. Each person responds differently, however, the majority of people have very little to no pain after the surgery. Dr. Roy will provide you with instructions for a quick recovery and a list of do’s and don’ts. Healing might take a few weeks but it’s worth it!

Most people have them extracted for one of the following reasons:

  • They are impacted, which means they did not come in normally. Because they are in the back of the mouth, they may get trapped in the jawbone or gums and this causes pain.

  • They come in at the wrong angle, which causes them to press at the other teeth.

  • The mouth isn’t big enough for more molars.

  • There might be cavities and gum disease due to the fact that wisdom teeth are far back in the mouth and cleaning them is usually harder.
